Tracereporters –Mr. Chris Eriyamremu, an opinion leader from Ofuoma Community, Afiesere oilfield, OML30, in Ughelli North Local Government Area, Delta State, has charged host communities to protect oil facilities in their respective domains.
He made the appeal on Sunday at Ofuoma, while reacting to a recent third party incident in Afiesere Oilfield.
Eriyamremu, a Strategy, Leadership and Development Consultant further noted that host communities in OML30 must be mindful of provisions in the Petroleum Industry Act ( PIA) and ensure production is sustained.
“As stakeholders and host communities, we must ensure that production is sustained by protecting our pipelines and oil facilities, it will guarantee the payment of required or mandatory 3% funds to the Host Communities Development Trust HCDT to embark on human capital and infrastructural development across the communities”
According him, “host communities in OML30, are very peaceful and law-abiding, and have continued to provide enabling environment for the operations of Heritage Energy Operational Services Limited HEOSL.
“The peaceful atmosphere should be sustained while Heritage continue to synergize with community leaders and stakeholders for the development of the host communities “
“I was told that Mr. Nelson Wilbert, General Manager, Operations Integrity and Security has been making good efforts and putting measures in place to strengthen the effective protection of oil facilities in OML30”
He added, “As stakeholders, we would continue to provide necessary support to Mr. Nelson Wilbert, General Manager, Operations Integrity and Security in delivering on his assignment and responsibility as it relates to security of oil facilities in OML30”
