Tracereporters –Journalists Initiative on Immunization Against Polio (JAP) has commended the kaduna state government and the development partners for the successful implementation of Polio Immunization and other child Killer Diseases being implemented throughout Kaduna state, saying that the role played by the kaduna State Primary Health Care was very crucial.
This is contained in a statement signed by the State Coordinator, Journalists Initiative on Immunization Against Polio JAP, Mallam Lawal Dogara on the recently concluded Polio vaccination in Kaduna State.
The statement observed that staff of the state Primary Healthcare Board worked tirelessly during the 4 day period of the exercise which resulted in the Vaccination of large number of Children 0 to 5 years of age.
JAP recalled that the Kaduna State government had during the 2024 World Polio Day announced innovative strategies’ involving development partners such as WHO and UNICEF to attain the “No More Zero Dose Campaign” following a recent report which indicates that 10 out of 100 Local Government Areas in Nigeria with low immunization coverage are in Kaduna state.
The statement noted that JAP monitored the recent Polio immunization Campaign in Kaduna North, Kubau and Kaduna South Local Government areas and was impressed with the large turnout out of Children and the performances of the health workers employed by the Primary Health Care Agency for the exercise.
The statement therefore appealed to the state Government to support the Agency with more funding and encouragement to enhance it’s activities and enable attainment of the “No Zero Dose Campaign which was launched by Development Partners such as WHO and UNICEF during the 2024 World Polio Day celebration.
