Senator Uba Sani

Your Excellency,
Compliments of the season.
I pray this short letter meets you in good spirit.

Your Excellency, the North was lucky to have had good leaders with great foresight who took actions and decisions designed to ensure sustainable progress for the region in all sectors.

In the education sector, they established institutions and allocated them vast lands in anticipation for future needs/development.

Your Excellency, you are a testimony to this selflessness as a beneficiary of that foresight. Today we all remember the likes of Sir Abubakar Tafawa Balewa, Sir Ahmadu Bello the Sardauna, Sir, Kashim Ibrahim, Gen. Hassan Katsina, Alh. Balarabe Musa etc with nostalgia, praying to Allah to grant them the highest Jannah.
One of such institutions is today known as the Nuhu Bamalli Polytechnic Zaria.

Your Excellency, a stretch of land within this institutions seems to be drawing undue attention from some government functionaries who appear more interested in personal aggrandizement than the public good.

As draconian as your immediate predecessor, El-Rufai was, when KASUPDA approached him with a suggestion to carve that land, he rejected the suggestion.
Unfortunately, someone or some people have now revisited that grossly selfish idea and have already carved about 84 plots out of the area.

What is worse is that the “plots” are carved around the staff quarters such that once they are allocated for private use, the school is not only losing a chance for future development but the staff quarters as well, eventually.

Your Excellency, with the current situation of things; falling standard of education, increase in out of school children and youths due to population explosion, the resultant rising crime and insecurity, etc etc, all well meaning lieutenants should be advising you on ways to improve education infrastructure, which is highly inadequate anyway.

This action, if allowed to succeed, is capable of portraying your administration in bad light to the good people of Kaduna state.

Your Excellency will recall that the El-Rufai administration demolished several houses at Alhuda-huda college Zaria for “illegal encroachment” into an educational institution’s land and expended enormous resources in compensation to those validly allocated lands by the Yakowa/Dallatu administration within GSS U/Rimi to reclaim the land.

It will therefore be strange to see your administration, which everyone expects to be an improvement upon El-Rufai’s draconian rule, taking such steps that are inimical to educational development of the state.

I therefore, find it necessary to draw your attention to the antics of these “advisers” believing that you will not only call them to order on this case but ensure that no further attempt shall be made to encroach into any institutional lands in the future.
Thank you and God bless.
