Participants at one day training of NAWOJ, Others women by WIKIMEDIA in Kaduna State

Tracereporters –Nigeria Association of Women Journalists (NAWOJ), National council of women Society – NCWS, Jam’ iyyar Matan Arewa, women in politics Forum among others were during the weekend trained on how to edit, contribute to wiki quote and raise women voice across the Northern Nigeria.

The one day training program which was organized by Programme organized by Wikimedians of Northern Nigeria User Group with twenty (20) participants urged them to amplify their voices through wiki- media, a social media platform.

Wikipedia is an online Encyclopedia with hash tag #shesaid, wiki loves women, the wikipedia messages are been disseminated in various languages  across the Globe, adding that in Nigeria the languages used are Hausa, Igbo and Yoruba.
Speaking in an exclusive interview with Tracereporters online in Kaduna, the coordinator of wiki-media Northern Nigeria, Bashir Yahuza Muhammad explained that the aim was to educate the women on how to amplify their voices through wiki- media, a social media platform.
According to him, ICT is one of the fastest means of communication and interaction, hence the need for women, particularly those in the north to maximize it.
Also speaking, the NAWOJ Secretary zone A, Daharatu Ahmed Aliyu and also the Mobiliser of the women noted that the training was apt as women in the north needs to catch up with the modern global trend.
In a separate interview, Some participants including the Chairperson of  Nigeria Association of women Journalists, Kaduna state council, Comrade Fatima Aliyu Mahuta and the coordinator Kaduna north jam’iyyar matan Arewa, Fatima Ahmed Godowoli appreciated  the organisers of the event and promised to extend the knowledge gained to their women groups.
Eleven Participants were drawn from Nigeria Association of Women Journalists – NAWOJ, others from National council of women Society – NCWS, Jam’ iyyar Matan Arewa ,women in politics Forum among others .
