Tracereporters –The Northern Youth for Justice and Fairness, NYJF, has condemned in strong terms the recent onslaught against the Kano State, Governorship Election Petition Tribunal panellist, Justice Benson Anya, saying the New Nigeria People’s Party (NNPP) National Auditor, Ladipo Johnson is merely hallucinating.
The Group through its Publicity Director, Mallam Kabir Abdullahi in a Statement signed on Monday, in Kano State said Justice Anya is a refine bureaucrat who know his onus, “the Justice Benson Anya that we know can never stood so low with such utterances. He’s a nationalist and a symbol of unity in the divide.
“We want to state clearly that aside politics, people should observe decorum and stand for truth in a very fragile situation that ensued in Kano State after the judgment of the tribunal.
“We want to tell the likes of Johnson that no amount of blackmail can deny the hard earned image of Justice Anya. He’s a man of integrity and honour. What played out after the judgement was uncalled for and should be condemned by all lovers of democracy. An affront on the judiciary is am affront on the entire nation. This season unacceptable and we come boldly to condemn it.
“If members of the tribunal panel could be openly attacked and all the party expect from these patriotic Nigerians is to sit back and act as if the scenario was normal and should be applauded. No, we can not be strangled on the platter of ignorance, we are member of Nigerian public and we respect individual differences which must be respected. “ Abdullahi said.
The Group also advised NNPP Auditor to always explore legal action in addressing any irregularities discovered in the judgement and eschew an act of hooliganism and attack on the judiciary, which is the last hope of the common man.
Abdullahi noted that the Judges escaped the attacked by these men who are debunking the alleged attack and call on the State Government, security apparatus in the State and well meaning individuals to ensure that those who are involved in this dastardly act are brought to book to serve as deterrent to who ever that might be nursing such ugly acts subsequently.
