Kaduna.. Tracereporters –Green House triumph over other contestants to emerged Champions of the just concluded Hauwa’u Memorial School, (HMS) in Kaduna state, haven garnered a total of 71 points.

Yellow and red House came second with a bracket of 61 points, while Blue house settled for the fourth spot with a total of 56 points.

The points were gathered from racing, fill the basket, Skipping, and other sporting activities, held at the prestigious Sir Ahmadu Bello Stadium, (ABS) Kaduna on Friday

 

Hauwa’u Memorial School is an initiative of Aminu Musa Abdulsalam Foundation located in Tudun-wada Kaduna, mainly for Orphans and the less privileged in that community with the core mandate of providing them with quality education through the Foundation.

In his remarks, the special guest of Honour, Alhaji Muhammed Yusuf, congratulated both the winners and the entire students, urging them to put in their best at future competitions.

Alhaji Muhammed added that the need to enhance sporting activities in schools especially in primary session cannot be overemphasized, adding that it will help develop their skills and abilities at very young age.

Speaking with journalists shortly after the event, the Honourable Commissioner of Human services and social development Hajiya Hafsat Mohammed Baba commended the school management following their efforts to ensure that less privileged and the vulnerable are given priority and adequate care to live the life of their dreams.

Hafsat said, “We are happy that this kind of thing is happening, seeing our children and grandchildren playing together in the spirit of togetherness. I believed that the children have done excellently well and the proprietor of the school is also doing excellently well. We all know that education is the key in every society. So when we educate these children from different backgrounds, they will always remember themselves in the spirit of oneness tomorrow when they grow up.”

Speaking from the government perspective, Hajiya Hafsat reiterated that the Kaduna state Ministry of Education has put up several programs among the schools across the 23 LGAs to help them interact with each other to foster unity, meanwhile the government cannot do everything alone and therefore solicits that other private schools emulate AMA Foundation for both human and capital development.

In the same vein, the Director, AMA Foundation, Kaduna Hajiya Aisha Yusuf said the foundation prioritize key areas of Health, Empowerment, Education among others.

Aisha disclosed that the program alongside the Inter-House sports competition is to offer free medical services to those with eye defects, adding that many were screened and given eye glasses, while those with cases of cataract will go through surgery in April after the Ramadan screening like they have been doing for the past ten years.

She said, “For the Education initiative, we have Hauwal Memorial School, located in Tudun-wada Kaduna, targeted for children in that community with the core mandate of providing them with quality education through the Foundation.

“Education is critical for nation building, developing people and breaking the cycle of poverty. We believed that by opening the door of academics for the primary school children, we will be able to move the society forward by grooming and educating future leaders. The school is totally free as they gets free food, school uniform and other educational stuffs with the primary criteria to be an orphan or from a poor background.”
