Tracereporters –President Muhammadu Buhari has called on producers of goods and services in Nigeria add value to their good in order to compete favourably in the international market.

The President made the call during the opening ceremony of the 44 Kaduna International Trade Fair presently ongoing in Kaduna.

The president who was represented by the Minister of Agriculture and Rural Development Mohammed Abubakar, said that value addition is key to sustainable development hence quality must be the watchword of all manufacturers in the country.

He urged them to produce goods that are climate smart so that they can be competitive in the international market.

Also speaking at the Fair, the Kaduna State Governor Mal Nasir el-Rufai who was represented at the event by the Permanent Secretary Ministry of Business Innovation and Technology, said that the state government had empowered over 4,000 women and youths and already a support center had been created and handed to SMEDAN by the state government.

He encouraged prospective investors to advantage of the business friendly climate in the state as he praised the organizers of the trade fair for their resilience.

Speaking on behalf of the National President of NACCIMA, Alh Abdullahi Sule, said that NACCIMA will continue to support the KADCCIMA and Kaduna state government its economy in all facets.

He called on manufacturers and producers of goods and services to imbibe the culture of value addition as well as making conscious effort.

In his opening remarks,the first Deputy President of KADCCIMA and Chairman main organizing committee of the 44 Kaduna International Trade Fair, Mr Ishaya Idi said that the low level of value to goods and products had made Nigeria lose out in international market.

He said that the choice of the theme of the Fair which was carefully chosen is “promoting value addition for sustainable growth and development.”
