Tracereporters –fuel Scarcity: the National Publicity Secretary of Social Democratic Party (SDP) Alfa Mohammed Esq has urged President Muhammadu Buhari to Protect All Progressive Party (APC) presidential candidate Bola Ahmed Tinubu Against Sabotage.
This was contained in a press release signed by Alfa Mohammed Esq
NPS, SDP and made available to Tracereporters in Kaduna.
According to the statement, “The sudden emergence of long fuel cues in the fuel stations across Nigeria when it’s just about 6 weeks to the forthcoming presidential election makes it difficult to dismiss the notion of conspiracy between some powerful cabal and the management of the NNPC against the widely predicted victory of Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu, the candidate of the ruling All progressive congress in the February 25th presidential election in Nigeria.
“Fuel scarcity, like any unpopular government policy at an election period does not only have the potential to disrupt the smooth conduct of the election, it could also make the voters visit their consequent anger on the innocent and popular candidate of the ruling party by either not going out to vote on the election day, or voting against him.
“Hence, allowing fuel scarcity at this period, and at the eve of the commissioning of a mega local oil refinery in Lagos, Nigeria for what ever reason makes NNPC a suspect of attempt to disrupt the election and sabotage APC victory in the forthcoming general election, especially the presidential.
“Therefore, Mr president owes it a fundamental duty, not just as the President and the Minister of Petroleum, but as the leader of his party who must deliver a successor from his party, to order the NNPC to ensure that fuel supply in the entire country is normalized within the next 72 hours in order to re evidence his concern for the welfare of Nigerians and commitment to the victory of his party candidates at the polls, especially the presidential candidate, Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu.
“Similarly, Mr. president should ensure that no agency of the Federal Government introduces any unpopular policy which could deem the popularity and the hope imbued by many Nigerians in the APC candidate that he has the capacity to right the wrongs of the current administration and build on its positive achievements if elected in to power.
“Meanwhile, Asiwaju is advised to have in place, effective plans B & C counter measures for addressing various attempts which may be made by his rivals to infiltrate and compromise his party leadership or political caucuses at various levels during the election.
