Trace Reporters –Industrial Training Fund has lamented that despite efforts by the Federal Government to reduce unemployment still lack of jobs continue to lead to numerous social and insecurity challenges particularly in Kaduna state and the country.
The Director General of the Fund, Sir Joseph Ari stated this during an interactive forum with stakeholders held in Kaduna.
The Director General who was represented by the Area Manager, ITF Kaduna Office Mallam Yahya Manu said it’s because of the urgent needs to create jobs through technical vocation skills acquisition that the ITF declared this year as the year of skills escalation for prosperity in order to empower Nigerians with skills for entrepreneurship and job creation.
He explained that the theme of this year’s interactive forum is employment skills escalation, the role of ITF and stakeholders. As part of efforts to deliberate and take decisions for the development of the country.
Sir, Joseph Ari further explained that the ITF conducted a skills gap survey of the agriculture and agro-allied, textile, construction, infrastructure, health and information and communication technology sectors for the Kaduna State Government.
In a remark, the representative of Ministry of Business, Innovation and Technology, Kaduna State, Mr. Baye Peter Nama said the state had partner Bank of Industry and Kaduna business school and trained over five thousand individuals.
He explained that the state government also linked beneficiaries to either start up or grow existing businesses.
Mr. Baye Namu further explained that the government developed a frame work for the management of innovation persons and ideas in the state.
” The aim is to provide a government support environment for innovation to be incubated, promoted, protected and commercialized where possible” he said.
In a paper presentation, Mr. Moshoud Adegbite emphasized on the need that Industrial Training Fund should focus more on the people with less privileged in order to give them of sense of belonging.
Stakeholders from various organizations participated during the meeting.
