Trace Reporters –The People’s Democratic Party (PDP) in Kaduna State has accused the Kaduna State Independent Electoral Commission (KADSIECOM) of alleged undue relocation of collation and distribution centers in Igabi local government area ahead of Saturday’s scheduled election in Kaduna.

Alh. Mohammed Yaro, Chairman of PDP Stakeholders Forum in Igabi local government made the allegation on Friday when he led a delegation of the Forum to KADSIECOM headquarters in Kaduna.

Recall that Mrs Saratu Dikko-Audu, Chairman of KADSIECOM in Statement signed on Friday said scheduled elections for the Chairmanship and Counsellorship positions would hold Saturday, Sept. 25 in Chikun and Kajuru local government areas.

Others including; Kachia and Soba local government areas were on hold following pending cases at the Courts while those of Zangon Kataf and Birnin Gwari would not hold due to insecurity.

Yaro said the Forum was at the Commission to formally submit a letter of compliant to KADSIECOM Chairman and to urge the Commission on the need for it to carry out it’s functions within the provision of the law.

“The cross of the matter is about the undue relocation of collation and distribution centers of electoral wards in Igabi local government.

“Same was observed in the recent election and we had an inconclusive situation in two of our wards namely; Sabon Birni and Gwaraji wards.

“The election is coming up tomorrow and we realised that distribution centers were relocated to different locations.

“We feel this is not in accordance to the law governing this election and the State guidelines,” Yaro explained.

He, however, urged KADSIECOM to rid itself from any external interference, adding, “we feel we can only participate in this election only when it is fair, transparent and credible”.

Also, speaking, Kaduna State Publicity Secretary of PDP, Alh. Ibrahim Wusono urged KADSIECOM to be guided by the provision of the electoral act.

“If you look at the Constitution of the electoral act sub-section 1 and 2 says, declaration of any candidate or any winner emerged should be at the Constituency but in this regard, just because of sentimental reasons, declaration and distribution of materials are hijacked from the Ward concerned to an entirely different ward where it will be in the favor of the ruling party,” Wusono alleged.

Wusono further mentioned that there was no any incident of insecurity in the concerned areas, adding, we totally disagree with it except if the Commission does not want PDP to participate in this election”.

Alh. Bashir Aliyu of Zangon Aya in Igabi local government who also bore his mind saying, ” we want a situation where election is conducted in a particular constituency and results are announced in that same constituency.

Responding, Mrs Saratu Dikko-Audu, Chairman of KADSIECOM commended the delegation and assured that concerns raised would be looked into.

Dikko-Audu, however, advised the delegation to further channel it’s complaint to the State Commissioner of Police as the decisions bothered around security of lives and prosperity.
