AGN Gifts N400,000 To Indigent Members In Kaduna

Trace Reporters –The National body of Actors Guild of Nigeria (AGN) has gifted a total sum of N400,000 to two of its indigent members in Kaduna to help cushion their health status.

Haj. Salma Ibrahim, Chairman of the Guild in Kaduna who presented cheques to the beneficiaries, Mallam Mohammed Ibrahim and Idris Lar on Monday in Kaduna said the gesture was a demonstration and commitment of the organisation in ensuring the welfare of its members.

“This gesture is a new innovation of the current leadership of AGN led by Mr Emeka Rollas who is passionate about the phlight of especially indigent members.

“The innovation has brought about an established trust fund where funds are raised from within registered members to lend a helping hands to who who are darely in need,” she noted.

Ibrahim said the Guild, as much as it would continue to play her role in nation building, identified the import roles veteran members had played and would do all it’s takes within it’s powers to assist those who were incapacitated.

She, then, urged the beneficiaries to accept the token shown by the Guild and used the cash donations judiciously.

In a remark by Wash Waziri, Vice President of AGN, North West mentioned that the Kaduna State Chapter of the Guild had been quietly assisting members, adding, “the trust fund commenced during the COVID-19 pandemic lockdown to mitigate the sufferings faced by members.

 

“Before now, we used to only honor dead members when they’re gone but we realised there’s no point celebrating the dead but the living,” he added.

Waziri, however, commended the national body of the Guild over the gesture he described as heartwarming and enjoined related bodies to emulate the same gesture.

Responding, Mallam Mohammed Ibrahim, a resident of Mando who spoke amidst tears unbehalf of the beneficiaries said the show of the act of kindness was overwhelming.

 

Ibrahim said he had joined the Guild over 20 years ago but unfortunately got partially paralysed three year ago following an ailment.

 

“We are most grateful to AGN especially for remembering us when we least expected.

“The Guild has demonstrated that it is one big family that cares about the well-being of all her members irrespective of ones status or affiliation,” he said.

 

Ibrahim, then, assured Officials of the Guild that the cash donations would be used for it’s intended purpose and prayed for the success of the future endeavors of AGN.
