Trace Reporters –Residents of Azare, headquarters of Katagum local government area of Bauchi State have applauded Governor Bala Mohammed for the completion of township roads which hitherto were a nightmare to commuters within the metropolis.

The residents who spoke to this medium said they were faced with tremendous hardship especially during the rainy season prior to the construction of the roads.

Abdullahi Baba, a shop owner at hospital road in Azare said; “Before this road was constructed, my business almost crippled because customers cannot come to the shop because of lack of access especially during the rainy season.

“influx of water from heavy downpour usually infiltrated the shop, but now I can sleep with my two eyes closed because the road is not only built, but very durable drainages of high quality are constructed to allow water has its ways.

We have suffered for years as a result of neglect; what was more insulting to us was when former Governor MA Abubakar came and destroyed the roads with fake promise that he will rebuilt them, but he later abandoned the roads”, Abdullahi had said.

Another resident whose shop resides at Azare Bye-Pass said “my business is more visible now than before because of the road, as it was not easy for many of my customers to access my shop.

“Governor Bala Mohammed indeed is the son of the soil, something we never thought the governor will do, he’s now implemented it at a get go”, he said.

Governor Mohammed had in July 2019 flagged off the construction of township roads in Azare, which include; the construction of Hospital Road to Jama’are, Azare Bye-Pass and Tafawa Balewa Road to Jama’are-Shira Road and waterways that include culverts and drainages.

Speaking at the time, the governor said the projects were part of his administration’s strategic response to address infrastructural gap as a result of population growth and expansion of urban areas and towns.

Over N1 billion was earmarked to construct the roads which were meant to resuscitate business activities in the metropolis.
