SDP Felicitates With Prof. Jerry Gana At 75
…Describes him as another best president that Nigerians were denied the opportunity to elect.
Trace Reporters –The Social Democratic party SDP has felicitated with her 2019 presidential hopeful who due to induced internal party crisis and consequent legal tussle was denied the candidature of the party in the last presidential election, Prof. Jerry Gana, CON on his 75th birthday.
Describing Prof Jerry Gana’s defection in to SDP in 2018 as the best thing that had happened to the party, the national publicity secretary of the party, Alfa Mohammed described how SDP became the fastest growing party in Nigeria within 48 hours of Prof Jerry’s joining of the party, adding that “the traffic of the influx of new members, drawn from all the social and economic strata of the Nigeria was unprecedented. He stated that SDP offices across the states as well as Prof Gana’s house became beehives of activities until the devil struck through some trusted but black legs in the party which culminated in to the failure of the party to participation in the presidential”.
Further, It is an incontrovertible fact that with his wealth of experience spanning from class room to his service as a Senator of the federal republic, Chairman of Mass Mobilisation for Social Justice and Economic Recovery, popularly known as MAMSER under Ibrahim Babangida, then Minister of Agriculture and Natural Resources in the Interim National Government under Ernest Shonekan, later the Minister of Information and Culture under General Sani Abacha, following as Minister of Corporation and Integration in Africa under Olusegun Obasanjo as well as being Minister of Information and national Orientation, Prof. Gana remained the most sought after politician and technocrat by successive administrations in Nigeria since 1983 when he left his teaching Job at Ahmadu Bello University Zaria in obedience to the demand of his people to represent them at the Nigerian Senate in 1983 to date, he remains another best president that Nigerians were denied the opportunity to elect.
The entire SDP family has continued to admire and marvel at Prof Gana’s continuous loyalty and solidarity with its authentic National working Committee led by Chief Supo Shonibare despite the disappointment of the election and pressure being exerted on him by some parties to have him join them.
The SDP wishes the elder statesman a health longer life as he clocks 75.
