COVID-19: Kaduna Reopens Shiekh Abubakar Gumi Market
Trace Reporters –Kaduna Markets Development and Management Company (KMDMC) wishes to inform the general public that Shiekh Abubakar Gumi market, popularly known as Central market, has been re-opened on Friday 14th August, 2020. The date for the re-opening of the other markets will be communicated.
In a statement issued by the management of KMDMC, said as the state move towards the gradual re-opening of markets, traders and residents of Kaduna are required to note the following:
“Market will be opened from 9:30am to 4:30pm daily. After the closure of markets, traders are required to return to their respective residence and not trade on the sidelines of the market. Defaulters will be prosecuted according to the law banning street hawking (2016) and have their goods confiscated. Traders are to note that, there will be no return of confiscated goods.
“Traders and residents are strongly advised to make use of public transportation when coming to the market due to the ongoing construction around the area and shortage of parking space. There will be several roadblocks mounted around the markets to ensure that this instruction is adhered to.
3. Loading and offloading time is henceforth from 7 PM – 6 AM daily. Trucks found around the market outside this time frame will be impounded.
“Also note that these changes are in addition to the State’s Covid-19 guidelines. Therefore, traders and residents are reminded to wear their facemasks at all times when leaving their houses and adhere to physical distancing.
“We thank all residents of the State for their support of the State Government’s effort to reducing the spread of COVID-19 and we urge everyone to keep observing the stipulated guidelines.
