Tracereporters –The Social Democratic Party, SDP has received with rude shock the sad news of the demise of its Cross Rivers State Chairman, Chief Etta Onghiri.
Mr Onghiri was an active progressive leader who spent most of his life championing the cause of people of Cross Rivers.
Recalling the roles of late Chief Etta in politics generally and SDP in particular, the National Chairman of the party, Chief Supo Shonibare described him as a man who
“has spent a considerable period in the progressive wing of politics, as well as making great efforts in deepening the support base of SDP in Cross Rivers State”.
The chairman who was deeply saddened by the occurrence stated that it was “a great pity that we have lost his continuing participation in the struggle and efforts to elevate SDP into a prominent position in the leadership; amongst competing parties, to emerge as the truly progressive party with the wellbeing of the people being the main objective policy of government.
We commiserate with his family, and our SDP leadership and members in Cross Rivers. May his soul rest in perfect peace.”
