Tracereporters –Today, our Muslim Ummah begins one of the crucial practice of the faith, having sighted the crescent moon. For the coming 30 days, Muslims in our state, country, and across the globe, entering this important period of their faith, will fast, pray, and meditate in the spirit of the season.
This year’s Ramadan may seem to have come at a very troubling time but it is in moments like this that we resort to our faiths for respite and hope.
And in a period of great uncertainty, such as we are in, the hope is that Muslims, in reading and meditating on the Holy Quran, acquire the fortitude to live out the time.
This period of devotion equally strengthens Muslims unto peace, kindness, generosity, love, and respect for others, all being the very intrinsic values that the Islamic faith promotes among its faithful and the rest of humanity.
In the same vein, as we all, together, accost the undiscriminating coronavirus, it is important that by the values of the season, as a united people of a country, Muslims and Christians alike, we persevere in the bonds of love and unity towards victory over this faceless enemy. It is my desire, finally, that through the season’s intense fasting and praying, that the ambitions of the faithful are achieved, and their faith strengthened. Ramadan Mubarak.
