Tracereporters –Governor Abdullahi Umar Ganduje of Kano state has appreciated Kano people for complying with the lockdown order, started from Thursday 16th April, from 10pm, for seven days period. As issued earlier.
He said “We are happy that people have come to understand the importance and necessity of the lockdown, that was done for the public health. It is good that members of the public comply with the order.”
Adding that the state government would intensify efforts in making sure that all necessary steps are taken against the COVID-19, assuring that, “The lockdown strategy is one of the recommended ways of containing disease spread according to health experts.”
He therefore commended health workers in their efforts as field officers managing all index cases, security agents, members of the State Task Force on COVID-19, members of the Fund Raising Committee on COVID-19, the media and all other stakeholders in their efforts against the deadly disease.
“It is very important to also acknowledge the unrelenting efforts of our Ulama and our traditional leaders in creating awareness for the public on the dangers associated with COVID-19. And also in their effort in making people comply with the lockdown order,” Ganduje said.
Governor Ganduje added that, “People should know that the lockdown was not put to bring hardship to our people. It is a hard decision that must be taken to save our people from this deadly disease. We will all do our best and we should all keep on praying for Allah’s intervention.”
While reiterating the need for all to always work with the health experts advice of hand washing with soap and running water, use of hand sanitizer and social distancing, governor Ganduje assured that the state would not relent in its effort in the fight against the disease.
