Tracereporters.com –Youth Democratic Party (YDP) Kaduna State Chapter has called on Independence National Electoral Commission (INEC) to as a matter of urgency reversed the de registration of 74 political party.
In a Press Statement issued and signed by the State Chairman Bello Abdulhamid and made available to Tracereporters, called on party faithfuls to remain calm and be law abiding as they strongly call on INEC to reverse the unfair, preemptive and premeditated action.
According to the statement with title “RE:DEREGISTRATION OF 74 POLITICAL PARTIES”. Started that “It is with total amazement and disbelief that the Executives and entire Young Democratic Party ( YDP ) Kaduna state members received the premeditated, unfair, summary and cavalier manner which INEC employed in the recent deregisteration of 74 political parties. Clearly, this unfortunate act by INEC is, though not surprising, a flagrant display of lack of respect for the rule of law and legal procedures. As a case, suit number FHC /ABJ/CJ/444/2019 was filed at the Federal High Court, Abuja, by 33 political parties, including the YDP, seeking amongst other things, an order restraining INEC from deregistering the concerned political parties pending the determination of the suit. Having heard the motion for an interlocutory injunction on the 23rd January, 2020, the ruling was adjourned to the 17th February, 2020 but INEC refused to wait for the determination of the matter before the court.
“Equally disturbing is the obvious conspiracy between the Senator Kabiru Gaya committee, INEC, money bags holding Nigerian politics by the jugular and determine what they want, which serves only their selfish business and political interests, “Elitist political parties ” and politicians, whose grand agenda is to continue to shortchange the electorate by continuous dominance, complete subjugation and emasculating them of their constitutional and inalienable rights of freedom to participate in the political market place of opportunities, choice of candidates and freedom of Association.
“This action by INEC is a negation of and has made a complete mockery of the Not too young to run Act,strategically removing young people from the leadership aspiration equation.
“For the YDP remains the front runner in the manifestation of the Act because it is a political platform where young people aspire for political leadership positions at zero cost. While we call on our party faithfuls to remain calm and be law abiding, we very strongly call on INEC to reverse this unfair, preemptive and premeditated action. Long live YDP! Long live Federal Republic of Nigeria!
Bello Abdulhamid, YDP Chairman, Kaduna state.”
