Tracereporters.com –Activities marking this year’s Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ), Kaduna State Council Kick-off yesterday with numerous events starting with visits to orphanage homes, prisons as well as hospitals within the metropolis and cash donations to seven widows.

The beneficiaries include, Hadiza Walter Uba, Salamatu Alfashehu, Hauwaru Muhammadu, Rakiya John Akpus, Lola Seriki-Idahosa, Danladi Buba Gomba wife and the family of Hamisu Ado.

The celebration which is meant to foster unity among members, will on Friday ,13th December, Council Chairman, Comrade Adamu Yusuf will lead members to perform Friday prayer to seek Allah’s blessings for a successful Press Week.
This will be followed by a novelty football match in the afternoon at the Ahmadu Bello Stadium Kaduna.
According to the program female journalists, Nigerian Association Of Women Journalists (NAWOJ) will engage International Federation of Female Lawyers (FIDA) while the male Journalists will battle it out with the Kaduna Health workers.
A statement jointly signed by the NUJ Press Week Committe Chairman, Muhammad Sabiu and Secretary, Gambo Santos, said

“We want to ensure that the event is a memorable one that will further unite our members.”

The statement further explained that, on Saturday, December 14, 2019, a public lecture, with the Theme : “Media as a catalyst for the promotion of Peace and National Security”, to be delivered by Mallam Ishaq Kauran Mata, a lecturer with Kaduna Polytechnic will hold at I-Care Center. The Co -discussants are Dr Ismail Shehu, Director Public Affairs Dept, ABU and National Secretary of NUJ, Shuaibu Lema(Walin Shadalafiya) .
The National President of NUJ, Mr Chris Isiguzo is expected to be the chief host, while the Council Chairman, Comrade Adamu Yusuf is the host .
Meriotious awards will also be given to some governors, deserving members of the society, journalists as well as our past leaders.
As a way of adding colour to the event, in the evening of same day, “there will be a lavish dinner at the Press Centre where members, families and friends will eat and dine while day four, Sunday, 15th December, Council Secretary, Comrade Femi Adi will lead members to Sunday service to give thanks to God for a successful Press Week, the statement added.
