Tracereporters.com –Kaduna, Doka Area Office of the Kaduna Electric defeated its Zaria counterpart to emerge winner in the just concluded 2nd edition of the MD inter area office football competition at the Ahmadu Bello Stadium in Kaduna yesterday.
The Zaria area office who suffered 2-0 defeat conceded first goal through Nura Lawal spoting No 7 Jersey of Doka, from a penalty shot in the first 45 minutes, after Zaria captain Sanni Muhammed committed a foul in the 18 yard box.
The second half saw the two teams displaying great football skills but threw away many scoring chances.
34 minutes into the second half, Umar Abdu-Na-Abdu, Jersey no 20 scored the second goal with a 40 yard shot that rattled the goalkeeper of Zaria to keep the score line at two nil in favour of Doka.
Rigasa area office who was the champion of the last edition was relegated to the third position.
The Chairman of Kaduna Electric football clubs, Murtala Bello described football as a veritable tool and a uniting factor to bring together the staff, just as he said, it is a means to discover talents that would represent the company in the Nigerian league.
While speaking to sport reporters shortly after the match, he explained that the next edition of the tournament would receive early preparation, saying: ” in the next edition, we are going to look into how the tournament can be improved upon, and to bring in media for a wider coverage”.
He said Doka, Zaria, Rigasa, Sokoto, Kafanchan, Zamfara, Makera and Barnawa area offices participated in the tournament.
