KADUNA Govt Inaugurates APPEALS Committee To Boost Agricultural Productivity


Tracereporters.com –In order boost production and improve welfare of farmers, the Grievance Redress Committee of the Agro-processing, Productivity Enhancement And Livelihood Improvement Support Project (APPEALS) of the Kaduna State Coordinating Office has been inaugurated yesterday, by the Deputy Governor of Kaduna State, Dr. Hadiza Balarabe.

The Deputy Governor also unveiled the GRM Toll Free Numbers, 0800APPEALS (2773157) meant to improve security in the State.

While delivering her address, Dr. Balarabe who represented the Governor, Mallam Nasir El-Rufai said that the APPEALS project is the needed impetus for improving agriculture in the state.

She pointed out that the Grievance Redress Committee is needed for successful APPEALS Project in the state and also raise the productivity of farmers, stressing that she hopes that the gesture will attract more investment, as well as lead to creation of more jobs in the state.

“The APPEALS Project is the needed impetus to improve agriculture.
“On behalf of the governor of Kaduna State, I want to thank Justice Zailani and other members of the committee for accepting the task,” she said.

The Grievance Redress Committee is key strategy of addressing issues, concerns, problems (perceived or actual) that an individual or a community may raise.

As a project-level problem solving mechanism, the committee will facilitate resolution of Grievance raised by people directly affected by environmental and social impacts under the APPEALS Project.

Besides, those inaugurated are Honourable Justice Tanimu Zailani (former Chief Judge of the state), as Chairman of the committee.
Some members of the committee are; Yahaya Aminu, Dr. Habib’s Tukur, Mr. Musa John (NSCDC), Mr. Henry Jonathan and Mr. Ibrahim Yakubu.
Others noted are Alhaji Rufai Mohammed, Mrs. Tabitha Jummai, Mr. Habibu Lawal, Barrister Priscilla Akut, Mrs. Aisha Idris, Mrs. Farida Abubajar amongst others.

Meanwhile, APPEALS is a World Bank project committed to enhancing opportunities for grievance redress, collaborative problem solving and alternative dispute resolution.

Effectively addressing grievances from people impacted by World Bank projects is a core component of managing operational risk.
