Tracereporters.com –The Kaduna State Council of the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ) has expressed displeasure over the phone of an Exco member of NUJ stolen at the Zango Kataf Local Government Secretariat .
According to the council, such incident happening within the premises of a local government secretariat, where they expect maximum security of lives and properties is shameful and stands condemned .
Speaking on the matter, the Chairman of NUJ Kaduna State Council, Comrade Adamu Yusuf said most worrisome is that when the case was formally reported to the Zango Council Chairman,he wave it as one those usual occurrences.
Narrating how the phone was stolen , the NUJ Exco member, Mr. Jacob Zango, who officially represented the NUJ Council Chairman at an event marking the one year anniversary in office of Zango Kataf Local Government Council Chairman based on his invitation through the information officer of the council said, “Immediately after the event held at the Government Girls Secondary School, Zonkwa, all guests were directed to go to the council’s secretariat for refreshment.
“On going to the secretariat, I discovered that chairman’s office was filled up with guests and decided to move to the office of the council’s secretary whom he said is a friend and school mate.
” The phone, Techno C8 Android, was stolen after a while on the table of the council’s secretary.”
However, the Chairman of NUJ was surprised that after a week of reporting the incident about the missing of the phone, the Chairman of Zangon Kataf Local Government Area, and made a passionate appeal to him to kindly assist the owner as he was there on an official assignment based on the Local Government’s invitation of NUJ Chairman.
In his response, the Local Government Chairman, Dr. Elias Manza, said that what happened can happen anywhere and that the council has so many commitments as such nothing can be done about the matter.
The Secretary of NUJ Council, Comrade Femi Adi even pleaded for an intervention, even his personal account, but Dr. Elias Manza, the Chairman said he can’t do anything as a result of paucity of funds.
