The founder of Social Audit, Mr. Faleye Usman Adedolapo has disclosed that there are high level of discrepancies in the construction of Primary Healthcare Centre, PHCs in Kaduna state.
Adedolapo made the disclosure shortly after a tour to 3 facility in Kaduna at the weekend.
The audit expert who toured Tudun Nupawa, Kinkino and Television PHCs respectively said: ” what we discovered regarding the Bill of Quantity, there are high level of discrepancies”.
He explained that the tour is to ensure that the circle of corruption is broken within the heath sector, especially in the area of award of contracts for renovation of PHCs.
According to him, the audit team, while on the tour had review some Bill of Quantity documents to determine if public expenditure and services delivered commensurate with money paid for the contract.
Adedolapo noted that execution of projects don’t usually follow the Bill of Quantity in term of the implementation.
While speaking, he said: “the PHC in Tudun Nupawa is in a terrible situation, too small, and it was donated a long time ago by a philanthropist. So it means that the contractor do not have PHC to renovate in the community.
“So our investigation is to find out if the State Government has disbursed the money meant for the renovations”, he stressed.
Mr. Adedolapo promised to ensure that Social Audit amplify its report findings to the necessary quarters to ensure that its exposed the corruption in the Health Care System.
